There has been some confusion in the past couple of events over how our point system works. I wanted to clear this up. I will go through and explain the system in the simplest manner I know how using an example.

Two players: Shishio (10) and Nightstorms (15) want an item - Duelist Chapeau.
The bracket value is the points they both have at that time.

When the items drops, the proper way to announce that you would like to spend your points on the item is to announce in LS chat:

/l {Cast Lots}

This means that you have efficiently and without crowding or spamming the linkshell chat, made the linkshell aware that you would like to bid on an item.

In this example the LS chat would read:

<Shishio> {Cast Lots}
<Nightstorms> {Cast Lots}

Next a leader would say what the item starts at.

<Diggs> Duelist Chapeau starts @ 5

At this point both players if they are satisfied with spending the points that the item starts at, the interested players cast lots on the item.

In this example,

<Shishio> 551
<Nightstorms> 103
(/cry)

Now - the player with the higher lot says in LS chat: match.

<Shishio> Match.

If Nightstorms is comfortable spending more points he can bid higher.

<Nightstorms> 6 points

Now Shishio has the option of passing or matching because he has the higher random on the item.

<Shishio> Match.

Bidding must go up by an increment of at least one point but can go up by as much as the player bidding wants up to and including all of that players points. At any time they can say "all in" which bids all of their remaining points.

<Nightstorms> 7 points
<Shishio> Match.

<Nightstorms> 10 points
<Shishio> Match.

In this case if Nightstorms has bid up to Shishio's max points so he has a decision to make. He can say pass and let Shishio pay 10 points for the item, or he can bid 11 points and because Shishio only has 10 he must pass.

SCENARIO A:
<Nightstorms> Pass.
(Nightstorms passes the item to Shishio. Shishio spends 10 points. Nightstorms spends 0 points. Shishio attains the Duelist's Chapeau.)

SCENARIO B:
<Nightstorms> 11 Points
<Shishio> Pass.

(Shishio passes the item to Nightstorms. Shishio spends 0 points. Nightstorms spends 11 points and attains the Duelist's Chapeau.)

At any point during the bidding process either player can "pass" and the other player must bid what they said they would on the item in order to attain it.

This is called the auction point system.

I'd like people to review this and fully understand our bidding system. As it is now – we need a either a /random or a cast lots random to determine who can match and who has to bid higher. This will be instructed by the leader at an event. We are going to stay with the leaders starting an opening bid on an item. If no one wants - we will lower the starting bid.

PLEASE EVERYONE – DO NOT TALK IN LINKSHELL CHAT DURING AUCTIONING.

Some people are still confused by how the system works. I want it to be very straight forward for everyone involved.

A couple of tips:

1) BE QUIET DURING LS AUCTION OF AN ITEM (Please <3)
2) Have a rough idea of what drops from every fight and whether or not there are items you would like to bid on.
3) Have a rough idea of how many points you are willing to bid up to.
4) If more than one person is bidding it may be in your interest (so that it doesn't drop to someone else) to bid your max bid right away.

Thanks!

D.
